이 병풍의 주제와 인물은 도교의 영향을 받은 작품으로
서왕모의 집이 있는 중 아시아에 위치해 있는
옥으로 만들어진 산과 상서로운 식물들로 그득한 낙원에서
열린 연회를 묘사한 작품이다.
이 연회는 서왕모의 정원에서 자라고 있는 복숭아가
3,000년 만에 한 번씩 익을 때마다 열리며,
이 복숭아를 먹으면 영생을 얻을 수 있다고 믿었다.
왼편에서 다섯 번째에 서왕모의 모습이 보인다.
서왕모는 왼편에서 다섯 번째 패널에 등장하고,
동왕공은 네번째 패널에,
세 번째 패널 아래에 물소를 탄 노자의 모습이 그려졌다.

개인들이 소장하다가 박물관에 기증을 했거나
박물관이 직접 구입했다는 사실에 우선 놀랐고,

한국의 미와 역사가 담긴 보물들을 만날 수 있어서
감사한 마음이 들었다.
